This is a sweet and simple fragrant holiday simmer pot recipe that can be given as a gift or used to scent your home for the holidays. Most of the supplies can be easily found on Amazon or you may have them already on hand.
I bought this simmer pot and am really loving it! I prefer to have a simmer dedicated to things like this rather than using the pots I cook with, but you could go about it either way!
Ingredients:
4-5 orange slices (fresh or dried)
2-3 grapefruit slices (fresh or dried)
2 tbsp whole cloves
2 tbsp whole allspice
1-2 whole nutmeg
2-3 cinnamon sticks
2-3 tbsp dried or fresh cranberries
DIRECTIONS: Add all ingredients to simmer pot along with 3 cups of water and turn the heat to low. Actively simmer for 30 minutes. Can be reheated throughout the day and will stay good on the stovetop for a maximum of 4 days.
To make stovetop potpourri for gifting you need to have completely dried orange and grapefruit slices. You can use a dehydrator like this one or simply slice your fruit thinly and place on a baking sheet covered in parchment paper at 190 degrees for 6-8 hours or until completely dry. If you do not get the fruit completely dehydrated, it could result in mold once placed in the mason jar. Follow the same directions above using the dried fruit only and no water! Place all ingredients in a 10 oz mason jar (these are my favorite!).
